Share: NBC News’s decision to sever ties with Ronna McDaniel, the former chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, might seem like a step towards journalistic integrity, but the truth is that corporate media remains as complicit in MAGA attacks on American democracy as ever. The hiring and sudden firing highlight the inherent tension between journalistic objectivity and the pursuit of profit. In an era marked by intense polarization and heightened political scrutiny, corporate media organizations often find themselves walking a tightrope between serving the public …
The US’s TikTok ban is a sham
Share: After spending the last four years going back and forth on a potential TikTok ban in the US, it would appear the government is actually, and finally, poised to go through with it. This should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention, the right has demonized the popular social media app for years, and now they’ve got democrats agreeing with them too! Despite trying to use the allure of “protecting Americans’ data and privacy” the US government is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, …
Pump the breaks on Waymo
Share: As California looks to be carbon neutral by 2045, San Francisco has taken another step towards a cleaner future, as Waymo, a driverless robotaxi, has been released onto the Bay Area streets. The decision made by San Francisco city officials has raised concerns on how reliable the autonomous driving cars will be compared to Uber, Lyft or taxis. How will Waymo deal with human error, one of the largest issues we face on a daily basis? Their solution if somebody forgets their phone or …
The Supreme Court justices are wrong, even when they’re right
Share: “SCOTUS.” Just the sound of it makes skin crawl, doesn’t it? The abbreviation may look fine on paper, but saying it out loud feels brutish and vulgar. But then, “brutish and vulgar” is an apt description of the Court in the last few years. Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, SCOTUS has felt increasingly out of touch with the desires of the American people. Multiple surveys in 2023, including Gallup and the Pew Research Center, showed public trust in the Supreme Court to …
Going green: a concept businesses can’t quite get the hang of
Share: Celebrities and social media stars are not the only ones abusing beauty-enhancing filters to escape imperfections–big companies have created eco-friendly filters to avoid their own flaws. This filter is better known as greenwashing. Organizations choose to spend more money on upholding their environmentally friendly status than making it a reality. Greenwashing is a very harmful and lazy business tactic that will only create more damage to our planet. Real change to protect the planet and those in it is being delayed in exchange for …

Political Dissident: Otto Warmbier happens every day in the US
Share: It’s been heavily implied that Otto Warmbier was killed by North Korea for stealing a sign. Comments about how barbaric and cruel North Korea is have flooded social media; condemnations about how a man shouldn’t have been given a death sentence for stealing and how regimes like North Korea go against U.S. values are in huge supply. While what happened to Warmbier was a terrible tragedy, I can’t help but notice the hypocritical tone and rhetoric surrounding his treatment and death. Follow:
