Left behind: Is PCC prepared to evacuate disabled students?
Share: In light of the recent school shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, disability advocates have voiced concerns over emergency procedures in schools across the country that do little to consider the needs of disabled students. Although PCC’s emergency guidelines include considerations for students with mobility and sensory disabilities, questions remain as to whether more can be done to ensure the safety of disabled students during emergencies. Police Blotter: Suicidal student transported to hospital
Share: Monday, February 5th Campus police responded to and escorted off campus a transient collecting recyclables from the trash bins in the Quad. A potentially suicidal student was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital after campus psychological services assisted the student who felt distraught and paranoid. Tuesday, February 6th A transient was reported panhandling east of Lancer’s Pass. The transient was escorted off campus by Campus Police. PCC celebrates its diversity during Black History Month
Share: Black History Month celebrations were taking place all over PCC’s campus this past February thanks to the efforts of Ujima and Blackademia. With over 250 students in Ujima, and many more in the Blackademia program, there was no shortage of people celebrating African-American culture. Despite hampered student attendance in the beginning of the month due to it being winter intersession, that did not stop the celebration.
