The PCC Dance Department’s presentation of “Suite Seduction,” a collection of original commercial choreography by students, took stage in the Creveling Lounge over the weekend.The concert, directed by Catrelia “Rikki” Magee, consisted of several different solos and group pieces that encapsulated the audience and offered viewers insight into the sensual and sultry world of modern dance.

U Building occupants plan move to temporary home
PCC’s science and health divisions are preparing to move into temporary accommodations.The divisions hope to complete the move by the start of the fall semester in August.The move is part of the U Building’s planned relocation due to the current location being declared structurally unsafe last September.
UCLA gives information to potential transfers
Blue-and-gold-topped tables dotted the quad on May 12 as PCC welcomed its annual campus visit from UCLA and students received firsthand information from the university’s representatives.”[UCLA day] gives to students direct information from [the school’s] different departments,” said Minnie Hightower, clerk of the Outreach and Transfer center who led in setting up the event area.
Veterans seek supplies for troops overseas
PCC veteran students will be collecting donations for care packages, to be distributed by Soldiers’ Angels to deployed soldiers, in the Quad from Monday through May 27, said Ricardo Martinez, president of the Veterans’ Club.Soldiers’ Angels (SA) is a volunteer organization that specializes in sending care packages to deployed military service men and women, said Martinez.
Trustee Mann elected president of state community college board
PCC Trustee Jeanette Mann was elected President of the California Community College Trustee Board at the board’s annual conference on May 1. Mann is currently the trustee for Area 2, and has been PCC’s board President numerous times.”It’s a little different than serving on the local board because now I have to look at issues from a statewide perspective,” said Mann.
Students await AS election results
Voting commenced on Tuesday for the new Associated Students representatives with the results to be announced on Friday.With new A.S. representation beginning in the summer semester, some students are eager to see change.”I voted because I feel it’s important to have a voice in any academic situation,” said physical therapy major Jordyn Orozco, 23.
Free speech policy rejected by Senate
The Academic Senate voted unanimously on Monday to reject a policy that restricted free speech on certain areas of campus.The free speech policy, formally known as Time, Place and Manner, has been a controversial point of contention the past few weeks when it was passed through three committees before members spoke out against its constricting language limiting protests on campus.
Track star to continue pace at UC Riverside
At the end of the semester, Tracee van der Wyk, 19, kinesiology, will be leaving PCC as the women’s fastest cross-country runner in the school’s history.Described as a quiet leader by her coaches and teammates, van der Wyk attributes her achievements to the more intensive training she received while at PCC.
New library book drop-off box installed
The Shatford Library unveiled its first drive-up drop box for returning books and audiovisuals on Monday. The box is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”The existing drop boxes were old and falling apart,” said Celina Lee, circulation services librarian.
