A campus-wide task force has unanimously recommended that campus police be equipped with firearms, officials said.According to Lt. Brad Young of the PCC Police Department, who served as an advisor to the task force, the “Arming the Police” Task Force was persuaded by the evidence collected in the 14 months it took to create the report.
Perfumo resigns as PCC’s president
PCC President Dr. Paulette Perfumo has resigned, according to the President of the Board of Trustees Jeanette Mann.
Police and safety services are reduced
Police and Safety Services hours have been reduced starting July 1 as budget cut effects are becoming more and more visible. Not only are the hours affected but the number of cadets has been cut by half.

Faculty union to fight elimination of winter session
The Faculty Association is planning to take legal action in response to the sudden cancellation of PCC’s winter session, which has resulted in conflicting reactions among students and staff. Talks of action are already underway just weeks after the Board of Trustees’ decision to cancel winter intersession in an effort to balance the projected deficit of $7.7 million for the upcoming fiscal year.
Putting the break in summer
Many PCC students will be taking the time left after summer school to relax and enjoy themselves.19-year-old business major Sean Cunningham plans to “kick it [and] chill” in Hawaii with his family and girlfriend. He hopes to spend most of his time at the beach, jet skiing, scuba diving or horseback riding.

Spotlight shines on adjunct artists
Adjunct faculty members in the Visual Arts and Media Studies Division opened an exhibit in the campus art gallery on September ninth. The exhibit is called “News of the World”, and in this case the talent of the adjunct faculty members is news. “The basis of the show is different from our usual faculty show,” said Brian Tucker, gallery director.
Musical workshop goes Broadway
Many know about the hit television show “America’s Got Talent,” where contestants showcase their one trick pony performance. But the definition of talent is an underestimation when describing Instructor Richard Kuller’s musical theatre workshop class which will perform at Harbeson Hall on August 13 to the 16.
