Campus hosts LA Sparks in international exhibition

PCC got a taste of professional, international basketball on May 5 when the school hosted the Los Angeles Sparks and the Chinese national team faced off in an exhibition game in the Hutto-Patterson gym. The Sparks won handily, 98-71, in a game where the Pasadena community witnessed an Olympic appetizer.

At the PCC Swim Invitational where the swim team raised $3500 in their annual raffle, Lancer Cario Liu won first place on the men’s 200 Breaststroke.

The men’s baseball team suffered their worst shutout of the season April 3 at Fullerton College, falling 12-0 to the home team Hornets.

A hot weekend proves to be a learning experience for the Track and Field team.

The men finished second in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 41.08 falling just short behind the CSULA team who finished with 40.90. It was a wire-to-wire race with CSULA edging PCC to take the trophy.

A triple swim meet held at Long Beach City College on Friday saw the women’s swim team win both meets against Long Beach City College and Los Angeles Trade-Tech, while the men’s team found victory only against LA Trade-Tech.

Baseball holds on to win against Cerritos

The Lancers narrowly defeat Cerritos College on a spectacular bare-handed grab and throw by second basemen Sean Stone, which he turned into a double play to end the game, as PCC holds onto a 9-8 lead.

Tensions rose over the weekend in Los Angeles as p Tensions rose over the weekend in Los Angeles as protesters clashed with law enforcement and city officials, putting the city of Pasadena and PCC community members on high alert. 

PCC President José Gómez sent out a campus wide email late Sunday night encouraging students to stay connected and continue to attend class this week. 

“College leadership in closely monitoring the situation, we remain in regular contact with our public safety officers and the City of Pasadena,” Gómez said in the email. “Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students, and we remain fully committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all. That commitment is unwavering.”
