PCC and PCC’s Police Department will be hosting a two-day Campus Terrorism Intelligence and Tactics Conference this Saturday and Sunday.The conference will gather PCC administration and law-enforcement personnel, such as campus Police and S.W.A.T. officers, to inform them about dangers facing local campuses.

“It is the first time any college or university will be hosting this type of event,” said Peter Michael, Chief of the PCC Police Department.

Administrators will be given insight and training on the latest counter-terrorist

tactical information as well as information on what to expect from foreign terrorists after the new president takes office and how to prepare campuses.

Campus Police and S.W.A.T. officers will also learn how to respond to a campus hostage situation, including a campus shooting or a terrorist attack as part of the emergency planning.

“It’s not a matter of if it’s going to happen,” added Michael.

The two-day conference will feature John Giduck, an internationally recognized counter-terrorism expert who has trained Special-Ops teams in both the military and in police forces. Seating is available to 1,300 registrants and 500 to 600 seats have already been taken for the conference.

An invitation to K-12 schools, community colleges, California State University and University of California campuses to attend the training was also sent.

The conference will be held in the Sexson Auditorium from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
