The men’s basketball team went 2-1 in the Kennedy and Associates Thanksgiving Tournament over the weekend.

The men beat San Bernardino Valley on Monday afternoon with the score of 43-52. Laik Carter,  freshman forward had four blocks throughout the game.

The Lancers made 19 shots from the field out of 49 attempts. Early in the first half of play, PCC caught fire and took and held the lead after a 7-1 run.

The Lancers lost the second game on Sunday to the (5-3) Barstow College Vikings with a score of 54- 43. PCC came out slow and were down 23-9 with 4:30 remaining in the first half, not scoring for nearly nine minutes.

PCC rallied back and finished the half with 21 points. Ryan McGrath a freshman guard was the key player, making six baskets with three of them three-pointers.

The Lancers beat Moorpark Raiders 57-81. The Lancer led the whole game, making 63 percent of their three-pointers.

Later, Sophomore Guard Givon Crump was hurt due to an eye injury. He is PCC’s leading scorer this season. Carter was the key player, with a 13 point, 10 rebound double-double before fouling out.

“We played well throughout the tournament,” Head Coach Mike Swanegan said. “We lost our leading scorer in the first game due to injury. The team bonded from that through the tournament.”
