Working with the backdrop of PCC trying to get out of accreditation probation, under the direction of a new president and new academic senate leadership, Alex Boekelheide, PCC’s newly hired executive director of the recently rebranded Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing, is setting the stage to cast the school in a more positive light.
Months after the widely publicized commencement debacle involving alumnus Dustin Lance Black, former Interim Director of Public Relations Valerie Wardlaw has “moved on” and no longer works at the college, according to school officials.
The Academic Senate approved a campus survey to guide the spring town hall meeting at its February 24 meeting despite objections from the administration.
“It’s a snow day,” said Superintendent President Mark Rocha in an email sent out to PCC faculty and staff on Friday morning.
Faculty members also remain opposed to the realignment of the college into six divisions, arguing that it gets rid of the current deans and places more management work on the new department chairs.
