On Friday night the Dodgers opened their 2017 playoffs, the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team played a world cup qualifier, and PCC prevailed in a volleyball match that (by final score) was more closely contested than either of those games, beating East Los Angeles Community College (ELAC) in 5 sets (25-13, 22-25, 25-16, 24-26, 15-4).
Offensive lancerpoint: Lopez sets season-high in kills in PCC victory
When outside hitter Vanessa Lopez scored her fourth kill at 13-3 of the second set, it was clear that she was the player LA Harbor College (LAHC) needed to stop, but by the time she celebrated her set winning kill at 25-17 it was obvious they never would. PCC won the enthralling match Wednesday, Sept. 27th, 3-2 (19-25, 25-17, 23-25, 29-27, 16-14).
Volleyball suffers consecutive losses
After losing at Ventura College Wednesday and dropping a home match against Long Beach City College on Friday, the Lancers have now dropped nine of their last eleven sets, including all of their last six.
Volleyball dominates rivals in second win
The Lancers women’s volleyball team defeated cross-town rivals the Vaqueros Friday night 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-20). After missing the playoffs last season, and a 1-3 start this year, the dominant victory showed that the Lancers are capable of becoming a winning team this season.
