Photojournalist Victoria Ivie captured the perfect moment when her cousin proposed to his current wife. It is like second nature for Ivie to always have a camera around, ready to shoot. She has always been into photography and everyone around her knows it too.
James Membreno and Michael Watkins, photo editors for the Courier, began their two hour drive on a Wednesday afternoon. Membreno was feeling particularly nervous, which only worsened when he saw Watkins pull out a bulletproof vest upon reaching their destination. It probably did not help that Membreno’s expired passport later led to his temporary detainment by customs agents. Three days after issuing a safety bulletin, Campus Police published a correction on Oct. 24 after the department could not determine an imminent criminal threat to PCC students as a Christian sect, with years of previous online rumors of misdeeds elsewhere, proselytized at PCC.
At last Wednesday’s Associated Students meeting, representatives from Metro shared a brief proposal of a future 18-mile bus transit system called Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) that would link North Hollywood to PCC.
Thanks to the Zero-Textbook Cost (ZTC) option classes brought to PCC by psychology professor Julie Kiotas and developed by the Open Education Resources (OER) committee, the college has saved students upwards of $1.2 million.
The Associated Students Lobby Committee (ASLC) recently traveled to Washington D.C. to lobby on behalf of the PCC student body. The trip took place on March 29, 2019 through April 2, 2019. The committee lobbied a total of six different bills to the members of Congress.
