Students gathered in the Quad on Monday to visit representatives of several universities visiting the campus on University Day. The universities, both private and public, included schools from the UC and CSU systems, as well as out of state schools, such as Columbia. The representatives were armed with answers and brochures for students who stopped at the booths with questions.

Some universities also sent a representative of a specific school on their campus. Pepperdine University had a representative from Graziado School of Business and Management that offers both a bachelor’s and master’s degree.

“With [the MBAJ] program, students can work towards earning a bachelor’s and then immediately begin working on their master’s degree with only 30 additional units,” said Pepperdine representative Lindsay A. Hughes.

Kate Carter, a representative for the University of San Francisco, found University Day to be a benefit to PCC students.

“I hope students have an interest in transferring before attending University Day but even if they don’t, I am glad students can inform themselves on what the school is about, how to transfer, and what programs are offered, including financial aid,” said Carter.

Justin Rackham, a biomedical engineering major, noticed that students had serious questions for the reps and he was also pleased with the knowledge he acquired. “They were very helpful and had more information than counselors. I think that students should begin by participating in University Day and then go to the campuses as an extension of their transfer experience,” said Rackham.

Students can learn more about the transferring process and can become involved in programs such as Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) and Scholar’s Program by visiting the Degree and Transfer Center located in L110.
