Despite losing in the Southern California Team Championship on Wednesday, the Lancer’s women badminton team rallied in their individual matches to pick up two South Coast Conference titles on Friday.PCC’s top player Priscilla Lun, dominated her competition, as she easily defeated East Los Angeles player Sandra Ouyang 21-2, 21-1 to win the SCC single’s title.

But Lun wasn’t done yet in her quest for victory. Lun also partnered up with PCC’s Angela Chinn in the doubles match and defeated their PCC teammates Jean Ma and Jessica Chan to win the doubles title.

PCC’s Head Coach Bill Sanchez said that he was happy about how the team played and isn’t shocked that Lun would dominate in her singles matches.

“PCC did very well today at the South Coast Conference Championships. No surprises that Priscilla Lun won the singles title easily,” said Sanchez.

Additional great performances were by PCC’s Cindy Fu, Amy Ly, Hong Quach, and Kimtran Huynh whom all qualified for the State championship next week in Irvine.

“From what I am told, this is the most qualifiers that PCC has ever sent to the State Championships in Badminton,” said Sanchez.

The Lancers will now advance to the California Community College Athletic Association State Championship at Irvine Valley College on May 7.
