Lancers Head Coach Dennis Gossard now holds the record for most wins in the history of PCC’s football program. The 76-year-old record (previously held by R. Frank Baker who coached from 1926-1934) was broken with Gossard’s 53rd win on Saturday when the Lancers beat College of the Desert at Robinson Stadium.

Coach Gossard was modest about his placement in the record books.

“It means nothing,” Gossard said. “It just means that I’ve been here longer than anyone else.”

Coaching is nothing new to Gossard, who has been doing it for 40 years.

In his third run coaching for the Lancers, Gossard has now accumulated 53 wins, 42 losses and one tie.

Family has been the primary support system for Gossard, who’s family was in the stands the night of his record-breaking win.

“My family has been here every game I ever coached, so it was no different than when I went 0-10 or 10-0,” said Gossard. “They would have been here anyway, whether I was going for the victory or not.”

“I love coaching,” said Gossard. “I love being around the guys and the kids. That’s what gravitated me towards coaching. I’ll die coaching.”

The Lancers have five National Southern Conference games ahead of them to take place after this Saturday’s final non-conference game against Ventura.
