Well-known Dutch pianist Eline Bergmann will be performing on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Harbeson Hall, said college officials.

Bergmann, who has been playing piano since she was six years old, has played all over Europe. She was asked to perform at PCC after a music instructor saw her perform in Holland.

“I was very impressed,” said Alfred Hutchings, a music instructor. Hutchings was the one who asked Bergmann if she would like to perform at PCC

Bergmann started playing piano at a young age. “[I] loved it immediately,” she said. She added that a teacher later discovered her talent and asked how she would feel about studying to become a professional musician.

“I was already in love with the music and decided to practice as much as possible to get thebest out of myself,” she said. Begmann would go on to win the Princess Christina Competition, which she said is an important competition for young Dutch musicians. Bergmann developed a love for Italy and that during the summer she would take courses there.

She studied Italian language literature along with piano at the Conservatory of Music in the North Netherlands. “After I graduated I got a scholarship to study at the famous Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary,” said Bergman.

Begmann currently lives in Amsterdam and she not only performs but also teaches as well. “I have a wonderful class with children aged from 6 to 18, a few of which are very talented. My days are very full since a pianist always has to practice many hours,” said Bergmann

Bergmann is excited at the prospect of playing at PCC.

Hutchings also expressed much enthusiasm, I’m looking forward to having her,” said Hutchings. Who added, “We’re worthy of her performance.”
