To establish PCC’s most important priorities and goals, a newly written Educational Master Plan is being put into practice.

“The EMP is the road map for PCC into the 21st century,” said President Mark Rocha in an e-mail.

The EMP was developed mainly to target student learning and success.

Faculty, staff and students are working together to meet PCC’s number one goal of student learning and success, as well as increased graduation rates, Rocha said.

The Educational Master Plan was created over an 18-month to two-year period.

“The community at large [worked on the EMP]. It consisted of 14 meetings in the community and on campus meetings,” said Vice President of Educational Services Robert Miller in an interview.

Faculty, staff, and managers all had significant input in the Educational Master Plan, said Miller.

“The EMP is the document that will guide us and lead us as we prioritize for success,” said Miller.

There are two sets of goals for the EMP: the signature goals and the student success achievement goals.

“The signature goals are what we want to accomplish for the community,” Miller said.

For the student success achievement goals, among other things, PCC wants its overall transfer rate to go up, said Miller.

Although every school must have an EMP, PCC’s newly written EMP is, “the most significant plan in the last 20 years. It is the most detailed, researched, and developed plan,” said Miller.

“The EMP is titled “Project 90″ because it will lead up to the celebration of PCC’s 90th anniversary in 2014,” said Rocha.

“I am extremely excited about the plan, and the clarity and direction of it that it sets for the college. I am honored to be the individual that facilitates the EMP,” said Miller.
