The Board of Trustees has appointed Former Senior Vice President Robert Miller as acting-superintendent/president of PCC while they search for a new president following the retirement of past president Mark Rocha.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be granted this opportunity,” Miller said. “[Myself] and the faculty and administration will do the best we can for the students.”

The Board made it clear that Miller’s position as acting-superintendent was temporary.

“The position of acting-superintendent is until Sept. 2 [in accordance with] the Title 5 law,” said Board President Anthony Fellow at the Aug. 20 Board meeting. The Board went on to make a committee to search for candidates for the position. The Board will appoint an interim president at its next meeting on Sept. 3.

Human Resources Director Terri Hampton emailed a notice to full time employees on Aug. 22 giving details about what the job entitled, what the minimum qualifications were and how they could apply for the position. The last day to file applications for the position is Sept. 2 by 10 a.m.

Geoffery Baum, Vice President of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and a past PCC Board member, told the Board that his office would assist in the process any way it could.

“The chancellor wanted me to convey to the Board that he offers his support and help in anyway during this process,” Baum said. “He will be here in Pasadena in Dec. and I’m sure will meet with the Board then… We just want to let the Board know that we have its back during this time.”

The college announced Rocha’s retirement on Aug.7 and it will take effect Aug. 31. Rocha will receive $403,826 in a severance package the District agreed to. His severance payment will equal 18 months of his regular monthly salary.

  1. No PCC employee “on Rocha’s Bus” in his infamous 4/17/14 MEMO should be considered by the BOT for the position. Any person included in this MEMO have 4 years of not placing students as a priority…Miller included. In fact he has surrounded himself with bobble heads who have never been hired/appointed by a PCC hiring committee and depend on him for their 6-figure salaries.

  2. Geoffery Baum, who was instrumental in selecting Rocha–and propping up that sociopathic, failed administration–offers his support and help.
    Heaven Help us!

  3. Let’s see….

Students in Theater Arts are “acting”, students in speech are “acting”, the head security guard is “acting” and now Miller is “acting.” This is hilarious. You couldn’t make this stuff up. I remember when Miller needed a set of blue prints and a flashlight to find the restroom!
