Four queens, one group: Mamamoo’s ‘reality in BLACK’

Share: Following their victory on the TV show “Queendom” where six of South Korea’s most popular girl groups faced off against one another, Mamamoo released their second studio album “reality in BLACK.” Expressive, varied and addicting, “reality in BLACK” is nothing short of some of Mamamoo’s best work.  Debuting in 2014, Mamamoo quickly established itself apart from other girl groups by foregoing what was expected of a girl idol group: passable singing, forgettable bubblegum pop and cute outfits for a strong focus on their vocal …

The anthem of melancholy: ‘Nothing Left To Love’

Share: Canadian melodic hardcore quintet Counterparts has delivered another record filled to the brim with despair, fear and anger. “Nothing Left To Love” is another display of why Counterparts has always been an influencer in the hardcore scene since their start in 2007. While they have grown as a band heavily, their sound has not changed here. This album sounds like “You’re Not You Anymore,” which sounds like “Tragedy Will Find Us.” Counterparts has created a perfect mix of all of their prior work by taking …

The disappointing return of Popeyes’ chicken sandwich

Share: With drive-thru lines clogging traffic and people waiting up to 30 minutes for “fast food,” the legendary chicken sandwich from Popeyes made it’s highly anticipated return on Nov. 3 after a nearly two month hiatus. However, upon first bite, instead of a juicy succulent chicken with their renowned spicy mayo spread, the overwhelming acidity and sourness of pickles overpowers any flavor Popeyes was trying to go for. Star-filled ‘Last Christmas’ cast can’t save horrible script

Share: A Christmas movie with Daenerys Targaryen from “Game of Thrones,” Nick Young from “Crazy Rich Asians,” and a soundtrack primarily comprised of George Michael sounds almost too good to be true—and it was. “Last Christmas” stars a fantastic cast with actors Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Emma Thompson and Michelle Yeoh. Unfortunately, even their incredible acting couldn’t mask the film’s poor attempt to incorporate the entire kitchen sink of political and social issues in its plot.  Follow:

King Taeyeon returns to rule the industry

Share: The king has finally returned after two years with her second studio album “Purpose,” once again proving that idols don’t have to have a short lived career. Throughout this ten track album, Taeyeon bares her soul through her voice, serenading with ballads and delivering a powerful performance about finding her purpose through singing. Known in the industry as the best female vocalist, Taeyeon fully lives up to that crown in this album. Follow:
