More than 30,000 bunny collectibles cover the inside and outside of Candace Frazee and Steve Lubanski’s home in Pasadena.

The bunny collection started 21 years ago when Lubanski gave Frazee a big bunny with a red heart that says, “I love you this much.” In return, she gave her husband a porcelain bunny, and both have since been giving each other bunny gifts to show each others love ever since.

The house was opened as a museum to bunnies in 1998 and has been open 365 days a year by appointment only.

“Friends and family always said we live in a bunny museum; too bad others can’t see it,” said Frazee. “That’s why we decided to open this museum sixteen years ago.”

As soon as visitors walk in the door, they see stuffed bunnies everywhere. The bunnies are all kept on top of shelves, inside glass cases, and on windowsills. Visitors can also walk into the room where the live bunnies are kept and see books about bunnies. The four live bunnies are very friendly and are litter box trained.

Visitors can also step outside into the backyard and draw bunnies on the concrete with chalk. By using the right combination of colors, it’s possible to see the drawing float in the air when wearing a pair of 3D glasses.

The museum is open daily and sees on average 20 to 200 visitors per day. Admission costs $5 for adults and children age 4 and under are free. On major holidays, an appointment is not required to visit, but hours of operation does vary.

In March 2011, Frazee and Lubanski set the Guinness World Record for the Worlds’ Largest Bunny Collection at 28,423 bunny-themed items displayed in their museum. According to The Bunny Museum‘s website bunny counter, they currently have 30,683 and counting.
