Robert Bell is a name every PCC student should know.  Hired in July as VP of student services, Bell aims to begin changes to make life at PCC better for every student and faculty member.

Building L is a building that students need to enter at some point or another.  It houses counselors, records, admissions services, advising, registration, and the majority of all student services. Bell said, “[I’m] here to help make all of these services more easily accessible to students.”

Bell’s main goal is to make all student services more online based by giving easier access to students, meaning less trips for all of students to Building L.

“Less lines, more online,” is a phrase coined by Bell that any student can appreciate after trying to make a counseling appointment.

A Los Angeles native and graduate of Pomona High School, Bell previously was at Antelope Valley College as director of extended Learning.  He has worked with UC and CSU systems, and has spent the last two decades working with community colleges throughout the country.

Bell is a family man with two young sons and a daughter studying forensic biology.  With his experience putting a daughter through college and all his time working with students, he has learned the need for better communication between the students and faculty.

With the many budget cuts and issues effecting both students and faculty, Bell has many goals he still wishes to accomplish.  His goals of redesigning the ways administration is done at the Student Service Center will take time, but he is determined and confident that things can be made more efficient.

“Retirement for me is spelt W-O-R-K,” said Bell.

By taking time to listen to what the students have to say, Bell hopes to make student services easier for everyone at PCC.  Support for the students and education is the goal of student’s services.  Bell said, “Line things up in priority and start knocking them down.”
